AN illegal bomb and arms factory run by a family of eight members including father and mother has been uncovered by the 63 Brigade of the Nigeria Army in a thick forest at Onicha-Olona community, Aniocha North local government area of Delta State, Nigeria
The Commander 63 Brigade Brigadier General Ugochukwu Unachukwu led some journalists to the factory site, today (Tuesday) to witness the shocking discovery.
Eight suspects allegedly involved in the family business including the mastermind of the operation, his father, mother and sister were among those arrested during a surprise raid.
Amazingly, the arms factory has a surveillance post, a generating set, an oven for melting of iron and a cache of arms and ammunition.
The Commander 63 Brigade Brigadier General Ugochukwu Unachukwu, while briefing journalists right on the spot said his men recovered items for the manufacturing of improvised explosive devices IEDs including shrapnels, detonators and the container.
Said he, “the activities of the suspects was a major contributor to insecurity in the region and the country.
In this axis, it is only IPOB and Eastern Security Network that use improvised explosive devices and even drones.
“A normal AK-47 magazine carries 30 rounds, but this man (arms manufacturer) is modifying AK-47 magazine to carry 60 rounds.
“Anybody that is involved in act of insurgency that is against the peace and stability of Nigeria, we will get to you”, he warned sternly.
The Commander gave the name of the 21-year-old prime suspect as Emmanuel Eboka, who in turn admitted to have rented some of the arms to criminal elements.
