Let your operations gain the needed attention to be relevant for inclusion into the State Security Council Meeting, Asagba charges NSCDC

HE Asagba of Asaba, Obi (Prof) Epiphany Azinge has challenged The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to be proactive by letting their operations gain the needed attention.

He stated this while receiving the newly posted Delta State Commandant of the Agency, Chinedu Igbo, on a courtesy visit to his palace on Friday.

The Royal monarch blamed the Agency for not being included in the State Security Council Meetings as a result of perceived laybacks.

His words, “There’s need for Agencies and organizations and indeed individuals in various spheres of human influence and endeavour to be proactive.
You don’t allow people to accommodate you. There comes a time you have to push in yourself. That is being proactive. And it is by being proactive that you gain attention and recognition and no body will doubt your relevance or significance.

“When I listened to you and reflected on your major mandate, as it relates to critical national assets, I played back to know whether I have ever seen your men at the Niger Bridge or the Airport. Both of them are critical assets. You must dominate them. Not the Police; not the Military. By law that is your sphere of influence. Whether they like it or not, you go there and let it be debated, you bring out your law.

“If you do that tomorrow no body will tell them the next day to include you in the Security Council Meeting. That is as far as our area is concerned but I know that if you move to other parts of Delta, the oil producing areas, your jobs are well defined and clearly spelt out. All I want to urge you is to make your presence felt”, he counselled.

Earlier, Chinedu Igbo, who assumed duty as the 17th substantive State Commandant of the NSCDC in Delta on 25th August, 2025, said the Asagba’s name had continued to resonate deeply on account of all that he had done for the Corps, describing the Monarch as a man in love with humanity.

Commandant Igbo highlighted his vision and mission in the state, which he said were in line with those of the Commandant-General of the Corps, including to rejig, revamp, reposition and restructure the security agency to make it a world class organization, adding that he aligned with the mission statement of the NSCDC – to reposition the Corps in the comity of security organizations with a fresh zeal in carrying out its mandate.

According to him, “The NSCDC is a lead Agency in the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure in Nigeria. This we do in collaboration with other security agencies like the military, the police, the FRSC and the traditional institution. That is why we are here to solicit your support towards achieving our mandate”.
