All roads will lead to Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba, Delta State, Nigeria, tomorrow (Thursday 12th February 2026) as a Mass Communication guru, Professor Joyce Ogwezi delivers her Inaugural Lecture.
An Inaugural Lecture is a ritual within the Ivory Tower – a very significant occasion in the life of an academic – provides Professors the opportunity to showcase their research and achievements.
Already, the Registrar of the school, Mrs. Genevieve Isioma Obadan, in an invitation sent out, stated that the 3rd Inaugural Lecture to be delivered by Prof (Mrs) Joyce Ogho Ogwezi holds on that day (tomorrow, Thursday).
Venue is the 500 Capacity Auditorium in the School commencing at 3pm.
According to her, Guests are to be seated by 2.30pm; while the Topic is:
‘Voices In The Cloud: Digital Disruptions And Gender Power Dynamics in Nigeria’.
Prof Ogwezi has continually featured at the yearly Delta State Communication Workshop (DELCOM) as the Lead Speaker.
Although strict but she is exceptionally admired by the students (participants) due to her charismatic way in class management in addition to versatility and delivery in handling subjects.
Nicknamed ‘Mama DELCOM’, Professor Ogwezi after handling one of the topics – “Strategic Communication for Leaders” during last year’s edition, can be dubbed as Professor of Professors, indeed.
Remarkably, too, Prof. Ogwezi, presently the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University, is the FIRST female Professor of the discipline and FIRST Woman to attain the rank across ALL Universities in Delta State.
