Anambra-based female legal practitioner, one Mrs. Adachukwu Okafor who allegedly brutalised her 11-year-oldd maid with hot iron has been formally arraigned before a Chief Magistrate’s court sitting at Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria for Children, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence.
The accused was arraigned on Wednesday (today) on a-two count charge, willful infliction of physical injuries on the body of one Happiness Nwafor an offence punishable under Section 4(1) of the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition and Protection) Laws of Anambra State of Nigeria 2017.
She took her plea and entered not guilty to the charge.
Application seeking for bail by her lawyer, Chijioke Nwankwo was turned down by the court who ordered that she be remanded in Police custody.
Next hearing of the matter was adjourned to 28th February, 2024.
