RESIDENTS of Aladja in Udu local government area of Delta State have cried out over alleged harsh treatment meted out to them by the military.
Our reporter gathered that the presence of the Army personnel there was as a result of renewed hostilities between the warring communities.
Mr Emmaunel Akoh, a fashion designer shared their harrowing experience with reporters at Aladja.
According to him, the town is completely under siege with some residents remaining indoors without food for days.
Another resident who pleaded anonymity said it was disgusting seeing both the old and young people asked to come down from whatever means of transportation they embarked on and made to jog from the beginning of one military checkpoint to the other.
“We need a permanent solution, military is not helping matters”, he lamented.
Governor Oborevwori had earlier warned that Government would bring in the military if there was no cease fire.
Said he, “let me appeal to the youths and leaders of both Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh communities to cease fire and stop further hostilities on the disputed land.
“No amount of land is worth dying for because when you fight and kill yourselves, the land will still remain.
“I have directed security agencies to move to the disputed area to forestall further breakdown of law and order while we revisit the White Paper on the crisis.
“The Government will not hesitate to bring the full weight of the law on anyone found to be instigating crises between both communities,” said the Governor through his Chief Press Secretary CPS, Sir Festus Ahon.
