DELTAN-born philanthropist and politician, Dr. Andrew Omagbemi Igban has demanded that all those involved in the evil act be apprehended and prosecuted immediately to serve as deterrent to others.
Igban, a one time Youth leader in Delta State joined family members and other well meaning Nigerians in condemning the act. He said that immediate action must be taken to bring those responsible for Alex Timileyin killing before the law, while urging the Oyo State Governor and the Nigeria Police Force to act swiftly.
According to him, “It has come to our attention that our son and brother, Alex Timileyin, a student of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo State, was bullied and brutally beaten to death by his peers inside the school hostel.
“The assault on Alex Timileyin was alleged to have occurred between 10pm and morning of next day during which other students recorded videos of the incident.
“From our investigation, we found that our son, Alex Timileyin was tortured to death because he refused to join a secret cult.
“We condemned this killing and seriously against bullying in schools and hereby seek justice for Alex. We demand that all those involved in this evil act be brought before the law and prosecuted immediately.
“We call on the Governor of Oyo State, the Nigerian Police and other security agencies to fulfill their duties to protect and secure the lives and properties of citizens by taking swift action to ensure justice for Alex Timileyin”, pointing out that “bullying and killings in schools are becoming frequent”.
