Ahead 2027: Oborevwori already jittery considering the Edo election upset, seeks to reconcile decamped PDP members back to the fold

By Austin Ogwuda

Worried by the recent upset in Edo elections whereby an opposition party wrestled power from a sitting governor mostly due to a divided house, Delta State governor Sheriff Oborevwori is already fidgeting ahead of 2027 elections.

Political pundits are of the firm belief that if the ruling People’s Democratic Party PDP in Delta State under Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori’s watch coupled with internal squabbles, brushing aside and stepping on powerful toes with impunity without recourse to the aftermath consequences, surprises might spring up, come 2027.

And as part of the measures to probably put his house in order to avoid surprises the governor has offered the Olive branch to the aggrieved members of the party who departed the party.

The governor who spoke through the State deputy governor, Sir Monday Onyeme on Sunday during the thanksgiving of the Chairman Delta South PDP, Chief Emman Amgbaduba at Living Faith Church, Udu, Delta State, Nigeria didn’t hide this move when he harped on the need to lure members of the ruling People’s Democratic Party PDP who bolted away, back.

His words: “We are all aware that Delta is PDP and PDP is Delta State. We should all work for the few persons who are in other political parties to return to the PDP.

“We will get more benefits if we are all united as Deltans under the umbrella political party.

“We all know that a single broom can easily be broken but a bunch of brooms is impossible to be broken, so, let us remain united as Deltans and as members of the PDP.

“Let us continue to do good things, think positive, support Government and its activities and remain prayerful to God, because we have a God of miracle.

“We are well aware that Delta is a praying state that is why things are working very well in our state.

“As a government, we believe that there is nothing that we can do without God. In short, we do not have powers of our own, hence we trust in God in all our ways.

“We came into government last year with a promise to deliver MORE for Deltans and we can bear testimony that with God, we are witnessing MORE development, more bridges and roads.

“We are also witnesses to MORE employment of teachers, in short, MORE peaceful state because, as children of God, we deserve MORE for us to be comfortable as Deltans.

“Today, we are here to celebrate with our brother, Chief Amgbaduba for his successful assumption of office as Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Delta South.

“My dear people of God, wonderful Deltans, we thank our Chairman, for remembering that all power belongs to God, and I congratulate him again for emerging as the Chairman of our party in Delta South”, he stated.
