ADVOCATE Newspaper on Wednesday celebrated 10th Anniversary of its contributions to shaping the landscape of media in the Niger Delta Region.
Speaking during the 10th Anniversary held at Ughelli , Ughelli North local government Area of Delta State, the Publisher and Chief Executive Officer of Advocate Publication limited, Mr Shedrack Onitsha revealed that the organization decided to commemorate its 10th Anniversary with thought- provoking discourse in collaboration with Advocate lecture series Board council led by former Editor of Guardian Newspaper Mr Abraham Ogodo on matters crucial to the Nationās Future.
Mr Onitsha said the theme of the event āyouth Empowerment and leadership Evolution: Rethinking Nigeriaās leadership Recruitment processā resonates deeply with the core values of Advocate publication limited .
The publisher of Advocate Newspaper, Mr Onitsha added that the theme emerged from months of rigorous analysis of Nigeria electoral and leadership Recruitment process, juxtaposed with the imperative for youth empowerment.
He listed Advocate Newspaper objectives to include, engaging stakeholders in constructive conversations to drive positive change in Nigeriaās leadership Recruitment process, foster collaboration among stakeholders to drive positive change in leadership development, inspire dialogue, innovative thinking and actionable initiatives for Empowering Nigeria youths and reshaping leadership Evolution in Nigeria.
Prof Enajite Ojaruega, a Professor of Africa literature, Department of English and literary studies Delta State University Abraka lectured on the theme of the event āyouth Empowerment and leadership Evolution: Rethinking Nigeriaās leadership Recruitment process.
She urged stakeholders in Nigeria to ensure that youths recruitment should be inline with global standard while calling for a leadership recruitment process that is inclusive and reflect the aspiration of the Nigeria youths.
Prof Ojaruega who noted that leadership challenges in Nigeria is as a result of systemic issues urged the youths to be proactive and embrace education as well as channel their energies to positive change in leadership development.
Others who spoke in a similar vein were Senator Ede Dafinone represented by Olorogun Bojor Adelabu, Olorogun Fred Majemite, all noted that it is time for Nigeria youths to change their mindset and prepare themselves for leadership roles .
They advised youths to shun vices and take their rightful position as future leaders .
The 10th Anniversary of Advocate Newspaper featured panel of discussants with Mr Abraham Ogodo as the moderator.
The event was attended by dignitaries including members of Delta Online Publishers Forum DOPF led by its Chairman Mr Emmanuel Enebeli.
Delta Online Publishers Forum DOPF had earlier sent in a goodwill message to the Management of Advocate Publications on 10th Anniversary celebration.
