THERE was a mild drama at a wedding ceremony in Nigeria when the bride’s father who had neglected her for 29 years thrown out.
According to the narrative, the bride’s biological father, who had impregnated her mother while serving as a Corps member in Kwara State, reappeared after being informed of his daughter’s upcoming wedding.
Despite his years of absence and lack of financial support, he was contacted out of respect and asked to provide a list of traditional requirements for the groom.
However, tensions arose when the father insisted that the wedding adhere to his cultural traditions, contrary to the bride’s upbringing by her Yoruba stepfather. The bride refused to compromise, leading to a standoff between the two.
On the day of the wedding, the absentee father arrived and took a seat at the high table, expecting special treatment. However, the bride demanded that he relocate to a regular guest seat leading to a heated exchange. When he refused, the bride’s stepfather intervened and called the Police to bundle him out.

In a related development, a Nigerian woman, Florence Friday was said to have cancelled her wedding allegedly over the groom’s refusal to leave his family house and rent an apartment.
The wedding was scheduled for Saturday, May 4th, 2024, in Farin Lamba, Vom, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Contrary to reports that Florence cancelled the wedding a day before the ceremony her cousin, Anny Robert however claimed it was called off over a month ago.
“Florence Friday is my cousin and this isn’t the situation, You people’s Morgak did not pay her complete bride price but he wants to proceed with the wedding. And again this wedding was cancelled more than a month ago. Let’s be careful what we post,” she posted.
