MEMBERS of the Senate Committee on Power tongue-lashed the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu over the epileptic power supply across the country coupled with the recent hike in electricity tariffs.
Ironically, while Adelabu was providing explanations to the Committee at an investigative hearing on “the need to halt the increase in the price of electricity” organised by the Senate Committee on Power, power went off, leaving the entire place in total darkness.
The Townhall gathered that when power was later restored, about five minutes later, the Senate Committee Chairman on Power, firebrand Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe fired the first salvo by making a caricature of the Minister.
Hear him, “You see what just happened. This is what we all experience. We the Senators experience it too and I am sure even the President does experience it at the Villa, just that he cannot speak out like we are”.
The Senate had summoned the Minister to speak on the recent tariff and justify the increase.
The drama took place on Monday, which, ordinarily was not surprising to an average Nigerian presently experiencing epileptic power supply nationwide.
