AT last, the Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu who recently mended fences with the Governor Godwin Obaseki over his ambition to contest the governorship election coming up next year in the State has finally declared to run for the race, officially.
The Town Hall gathered that the governor is still not in support of his running because he (Obaseki) has a preferred candidate kept close to his chest.
Shaibu launched his campaign office in Benin City, Edo State capital this morning declaring that “After all the consultation we have made, we needed to now make the answer to our consultation known to our people. And the answer is clear: they have asked me to run”.
He had maintained that though he was persecuted but not crushed, making reference to the ordeal he passed through in the hands of his principal (Obaseki) including relocation of his office from Government House to an uncompleted building.
