Okowa is not dictating to me, Delta Governor breaks silence

By Austin Ogwuda

DELTA State governor, Rt.Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, yesterday broke his silence over allegations making the round that the immediate past Governor Ifeanyi Okowa was interfering and dictating the tone in governance.

Most critics had posited that Oborevwori is yet to submit the list of his cabinet members before the State Assembly due to alleged sharp disagreement between him (Oborevwori) and his predecessor Ifeanyi Okowa over who should have the upper hand in nominating commissioners for coming cabinet.

But disputing these insinuations growing like wild fire, Oborevwori yesterday warned the speculators to steer clear, while clearing the air on why he has not released the list of Commissioners.
He also called on journalists to avoid speculative and sensational reporting.

Chief Press Secretary to the State Governor, Sir Festus Ahon in a terse statement stated that the Governor is taking his time to pick suitable and competent hands to be appointed into the State Executive Council.

Ahon, reacting to reports in the media to the effect that the Governor was under pressure roundly debunked same.

According to the statement, “First, the State House of Assembly was constituted on June 13 and thereafter went on recess for two weeks and only recovened on Tuesday June 27.

“The Governor will pick credible and capable persons devoid of sentiments that will help him deliver on his M.O.R.E Agenda for Deltans.

“The report is therefore wrong in its entirety and borne out of mischief. Former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa does not interfere with appointments”.

The statement further enjoined Deltans to be patient with the State Government as it is poised and ready to deliver more for the people.
