Come along with your Voter’s Card, Screening Committee orders Oborevwori Political Appointees

By Austin Ogwuda

In furtherance to the earlier directive to the Political appointees over their screening, the Committee set up by the Delta State government for the exercise has listed Voter’s Card as one of the requirements to be brought to the venue for verification.

Other requirements, according to a statement signed by the Secretary of the Committee, Mr. Felix Irevwi, on Monday includes: the original copy of Letter of Appointment and Valid DTSG ID Card.

The statement listed the categories of Appointees to be screened in the first instance as follows:

Executive Assistants (EAs); Senior Special Assistants (SSAs); Special Assistants (SAs) (including SAs/Aides to Hon.Commissioners, Special Advisers, Chairmen and Members of Commissions, Boards, Parastatals and Agencies as well as aides to other Senior Political Appointees); and

Political Appointees in the State House of Assembly (excluding domestic staff).

The statement further added that the screening schedules contained in the earlier announcement by the Secretary to the State Government on the exercise remain valid.

“Appointees are requested to come to the screening venue at the Press Centre, (behind the Chapel), New Government House, Asaba between 11.00am and 3.00pm on the scheduled dates with the following:

i) Original Copy of Letter of Appointment;

ii) Voters’ Card; and

iii) Valid DTSG ID Card”.

The statement further noted that appointees in the State House of Assembly are not expected to come for their screening on the said scheduled dates as their date(s) will be communicated to them via the Clerk of the State House of Assembly.

“Also, appointees on Diaspora Matters/Affairs are exempted from the screening.

The listed phone numbers 09037437233 and 08037785862 could be contacted for enquiries”, the statement added.

The Townhall, in its initial report, had pointed out that divided loyalty to the government of the day was part of the reason behind the screening.
