Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State Oborevwori has commended the Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government Council, Dr. Kelvin Ezenyili for his foresight and consistency in aligning with the State’s MORE Agenda.

He made the commendation  in Asaba while speaking on Tuesday during the Empowerment Programme carried out by the Council.

Represented by the State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, the governor noted that the empowerment programme serves as a direct catalyst for grassroots development, bringing the dividends of democracy to every nook and cranny of the State.

His words:

“As we approach the end of the year, there is no better way to celebrate the spirit of the season than by lifting our people up and providing them with the tools they need to build a sustainable future.

”Today’s exercise is a practical extension of our administration’s MORE Agenda.

“Empowerment is not just about the items or the capital distributed today; it is about economic resilience, poverty alleviation, and human capital development.

“To the beneficiaries, view this as a seed; in a challenging economic climate, the difference between success and failure is often the discipline to manage small beginnings”.

Earlier, the Council Chairman stated that his administration remains committed to the upliftment of skills acquired by the youth and the promotion of small-scale businesses.

He noted that the programme especially during this festive period, is designed to help small-scale business owners needing N50,000.00 to purchase equipment or as much as N100,000.00 to restock their shops.

“This programme”, he went on, “is no doubt a turning point for them and their businesses. This exercise is all inclusive as it cuts across the entire Local Government Area, devoid of political, ethnic or religious affiliation with the Hausa/Fulani,Yoruba and igbo communities carried along.

“To ensure the exercise is transparent and targets the desired beneficiaries, the Council had engaged in a rigorous selection process through partnership with the leaders of each ward and above communities mentioned, with a stern instruction to distribute the forms only to small scale business owners/entrepreneurs which are qualified for the grant, with sufficient proof of owning existing businesses or evidence of certificate of completion of the skills acquired.

“The forms and accompanying documents of these beneficiaries submitted were further vetted by a Committee set by the Council for verification purposes.

“I therefore urge all beneficiaries to embrace this golden opportunity with dedication and make the most of the resources provided to uplift their businesses in a time like this when products and businesses thrive as a result of the yuletide period. A word they say is enough for the wise”,  he further stated.
