… intention was to steal her phonesÂ
…The prime suspect was barely two weeks old he was engaged before committing the heinous actÂ
THE prime suspect involved in the alleged killing of Justice Ifeoma Okogwu, Godwin Mngumi, was on Tuesday paraded by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bright Edafe, a Superintendent of Police (SP) at the State Police headquarters, Asaba.
According to Godwin, 25 years old, “We did not plan to kill her; we only planned to take her phone. When we went there, we tied her hands and her legs. We took her phone, wristwatch, necklace and power bank”.
Asked when you tied her legs, hands, face, nose, eyes how do you expect her to breathe?
He kept quiet.
PPRO: where is she now?
Suspect: She passed away
PPRO: How do you feel now that she is dead. Supposing she is your mother how would you feel. Are you happy that she has died?
Suspect: No, sir!.
He was paraded along with one of the accomplices, one Nnaji Obalum.
Nnaji, 21 years old, stated that “I kept the big phone, a Samsung while the small one was sold. The Samsung phone was found with me. I put my SIM inside”.
The Police image maker has therefore reiterated the need for citizens to carry out due diligence and background checks before engaging workers especially domestic staff.
