Residents of Ebeye, Ogumu and Ngbeken Streets in Agbor, Delta State, South South, Nigeria have called for the urgent intervention of the Delta State government to save them possible mishap as a result of an ongoing construction of a Gas Plant within the area.
According to Ika Mirror, “The angry residents said that they need urgent intervention from relevant government authorities as the gas plant poses a great danger to the lives and properties of people living in the area when completed.
“The residents completely condemned the location of the gas plant in an area that is purely residential.
“They said that they have met severally with the man behind the project, unfortunately, he refused to stop the project,warning them to stop their agitation as they have no right to challenge him on where to build his project.
“The gas plant which is located at Ebeye Street by Ogumu Street junction shares the same compound with tenants who cook daily with firewoods. They appealed to both the Delta State and Ika South Local Governments to quickly wade into the issue”, stated the report.
Recall that there had been series of gas explosions in Agbor in the past.
There was a particular incident that claimed over 23 lives leading to the placement of embargo against indiscriminate location of gas plants within the community.
