… lauds Governor Oborevwori’s ₦32 billion education drive
Prince Victor Efeizomor, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Media to the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, marked his 60th birthday with a gesture of giving back to society by donating writing materials to students and cash gifts to teachers as incentive to boost their morals in Ika North East Local Government Area.
The celebrant, who visited Omi Primary School, Owa-Akero; Ogbaigbena Primary School, Owa-Oyibo; and Owa Secondary School, Owa-Oyibo, said the outreach was his way of expressing gratitude to God and contributing to the educational development of his community.
“I have to be grateful to God for today, for making my 60th birthday a reality,” Efeizomor said in an interview at the Owa Palace.
“As a way of celebrating this landmark occasion, I decided to give back to society by visiting schools and donating writing materials and cash gifts.
“For me, this is the best way to celebrate, by touching the lives of our children.”
He explained that his decision was inspired by Governor Oborevwori’s focus on education.
“Education has taken a pivotal role in His Excellency’s administrative initiatives. The Governor has budgeted ₦32 billion into the sector, cleared the backlog of pension arrears for teachers, and injected nearly 200 staff into the system.
“These are bold steps that prove he is committed to education as the bedrock of development. As his aides, we must key into his vision by supporting our communities,” he said.
Efeizomor also used the occasion to charge students to remain disciplined and focused on their studies.
“As future leaders of this country, you must be of good behaviour and ensure you come out with flying colours.
“Respect your parents, respect your teachers, and above all, avoid cultism and bad gangs. If you want to go higher, you must be studious and dedicated,” he told the pupils.
A memorable highlight of the event came at Ogbaigbena Primary School, where a Primary Four pupil, John, prayed fervently for the celebrant.
On learning that the boy was an orphan struggling with school fees, Efeizomor announced a scholarship for him.
“When I heard his story, I was moved. For the period John will be in school, I will personally be responsible for his financial obligations. This is my commitment to him,” he stated.
At the Owa Palace, his father, the Obi of Owa Kingdom, Dr. Emmanuel Efeizomor II, offered heartfelt prayers for his son when he stormed the palace to join him in cutting his 60th birthday cake.
The monarch praised God for his son’s life and prayed for wisdom, good health, and greater service to the state.
School administrators and students also hailed the celebrant’s gesture, Mrs. Moseri Amaechi, Headteacher of Ogbaigbena Primary School, said: “I feel great, and I pray that God will grant him good health. As he celebrates, he is celebrating with grace.”
Similarly, Mrs. Onyeacholem Ndidi, Headteacher of Omi Primary School, noted: “We appreciate his efforts. He has added value to the lives of our pupils, and we are happy that he remembered us.”
Mrs. Umeri Margaret, Principal of Owa Secondary School, added: “Having the Prince celebrate with my students is a big honour. We are very happy with his kind gesture, and I wish him long life and prosperity.”
Students also expressed their gratitude. Ozeona Emmanuel, a Primary Six pupil of Omi Primary School, said: “On behalf of all the pupils, we are grateful to Prince Efeizomor for donating writing materials. This will help us in our studies.”
Reflecting on the broader picture, Efeizomor reaffirmed his support for Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda.
“His Excellency is determined to drive development across the three senatorial districts by building roads, improving higher institutions, paying salaries promptly, and ensuring reforms in key sectors.
He has fulfilled the majority of his promises, and that is why I am confident Deltans will overwhelmingly return him in 2027,” he said.
The event ended on a celebratory note at the palace, where family and community members joined in prayers and well-wishes for Prince Efeizomor as he entered a new decade of life dedicated to service
