BARELY 48 hours after a fierce fight broke out between two male teachers inside the Staff Room of Ibru College, Agbarha-Otor, Delta State, Nigeria authorities of the Delta State Ministry of Education are yet to come up with any official statement.
The shocking video of two teachers engaged in a physical combat right inside the Staff Room of the school which has gone viral sparked serious outrage and condemnations raising questions about professionalism and discipline within the teaching profession.
But more worrisome agitating the minds of people is the silence maintained both by the Ibru College, Agbarha-Otor on the shameful act as well as the Delta State Ministry of Education, which is the regulatory and supervising body.
The video, shared on Facebook by a social media user called Nkeiru Udoh Ogosi on Wednesday, captured the heated altercation between the male teachers as their colleagues frantically tried to intervene.
“Two teachers fighting in Ibru College Agbarha-Otor in Delta State. What a shameful act. I wonder what they are impacting on the children,” Ogosi captioned the post.
The viral footage shows the teachers exchanging blows while students and other staff members looked on, some peering through the windows to witness the dramatic scene. Despite multiple attempts to separate them, the fight continued, with loud shouts filling the background.
The cause of the fight between the two teachers and their full identities remained unknown as at the time of this report.
Efforts to get the Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Ministry of Education were unsuccessful due to poor network.
