Member representing Ughelli-Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, under the canopy of APC, Hon Francis Ejiroghene Waive has been receiving bashes as well as accolades following his public endorsement of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of PDP as sole candidate for governorship in Delta State, come 2027.

Waive had while addressing newsmen recently apart from the public endorsement of Governor Oborevwori also let the cat out of the bag by saying that the Governor Oborevwori would eventually decamp to APC.

According to Waive, “It will be impossible for any other candidate to beat Governor Sheriff come 2027; his coming to APC is value addition and that this will bring an immediate end to the crisis engulfing the party in the State.

“I can see Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu coasting to victory on the APC ticket. This synergy is what APC Delta needs at this moment. Not only will this bring peace to the party, it will make victory very certain.

“I want victory for my party and for President Tinubu. This is the way to go. Moreover the rotation of the Governorship between the three Senatorial Districts favors Governor Sheriff who has only one term left. I call on all Deltans to support this move as it will further unite us as a people”, he stated.

But in a sharp reaction, Delta State Publicity Secretary, Barrister Valentine Onojeghuo in a press statement said, “We wish to state unequivocally that Hon. Waive’s position is purely his personal opinion and does not reflect the stance of Delta APC, its leadership, or the generality of its members.

“The APC in Delta State boasts an array of eminently qualified and capable individuals who will offer Deltans a viable and credible alternative in 2027. We are confident that the people of Delta, having witnessed the continued monumental failures of the PDP, will overwhelmingly support the APC’s candidate to usher in real progress, accountability, and development

“We urge our members and the general public to disregard Hon. Waive’s statement as it does not align with the Party’s collective resolve to unseat the PDP and deliver purposeful governance to the good people of Delta State.

“Delta APC remains committed to freeing the State from the bondage of bad governance and will field a formidable candidate through a transparent and competitive process that truly represents the aspirations of the people of the State who are earnestly yearning for real change”, stated the Delta State APC Publicity Scribe.

On his part, the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor in a statement through his Chief Press Secretary, CPS, Nkem Nwaeke said, “I must commend my big colleague at the federal level, Rt Hon Ejiroghene Waive, who represents Ughelli North, Ughelli South, Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, for his bold and pragmatic stance.

“It takes courage to break from party lines and prioritize the interests of the people of the state. This move could be seen as a testament to the lawmaker’s commitment to putting Delta State first, regardless of party affiliations”, Guwor said.

“By adopting Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as sole candidate in 2027, the APC would be demonstrating a willingness to put aside partisan interests and work towards the common good of the people of Delta State”, the statement added.
